You will need:
~ Your finished stitching
~ Clock mechanism
~ 2 wooden embroidery hoops (Use 10" hoops if the Stitching Clock was done on 14ct)
~ Strong craft glue (that will work on wood)
~ Fabric Glue (or Fray Chek)
~ Cardboard or mat board
~ Small fabric scissors
~ Paper scissors
~ Felt for backing
Step 1
Finish all cross stitching and back stitching. Clean and press your fabric as needed.
Use strong glue to attach the two inside hoop sections together, and the two outer hoops together, ensuring the outer screw tighteners are lined up. You may wish to hold them with clips until they dry.
Step 3
Back your stitching with medium-weight interfacing, to give the stitching some extra strength to support the weight of the clock mechanism.
Step 4
Cut out your stitching about 1.5" larger than the hoop. (Use 2x 10" hoops if stitched on 14/28ct fabric)
Step 5
Insert your stitching into the hoop, ensuring it is exactly in the middle, and pull the extra fabric tight around the edges. Use small scissors to cut a small hole in the centre of the clock face, and use fabric glue around the edges to stop it from fraying.
Step 6
Once the glue is dry, feed the clock mechanism through the middle, and check the fit.
Step 7
Cut a piece of cardboard or mat board to fit inside the back of the hoop. Push it into place, making a hole through the cardboard for the clock mechanism to come through.
Step 8
Use fabric glue to attach the excess fabric to the inside of the hoop.
Step 9
Cut a piece of white felt and attach it to the back with glue or a whip stitch, cutting an X in the felt to allow the battery pack to come through. Fold the triangles inside around the battery pack.
Enjoy your new Stitching Clock!
